Who should I get a Gift for at my Wedding?

Who should I get a Gift for at my Wedding?

You should expect to get a wedding gift from many of your guests at your wedding, but you should also expect to give out a lot of gifts around the event as well. Who should you actually get gifts for at your wedding? It can be a surprising number of people if you are not prepared for it, and you don’t want to accidentally insult someone by not giving them a gift when you are expected to do so.

We know wedding planning can be chaotic and stressful. At Stag Pack, we try to make things easier for grooms and groomsmen so you can focus on what matters most. We provide tips and tricks for everything wedding-related. In this case, we can help dissect who you should and shouldn’t get a gift for at your own wedding.

Should I get a gift for my best man?

You should absolutely get your best man a gift for your wedding; something custom and personalized will do best. Your best man is a key part of your wedding process, and getting them a sentimental gift to remember this special time in both your lives is appreciated and often expected.

Should I get presents for my groomsmen?

You should not only get presents for your best man but also for all of the groomsmen in your wedding party. It’s a lot of time and effort being a groomsman for someone's wedding, rehearsals, planning, bachelor parties, stag parties, and organizing the wedding itself. Not to mention, groomsmen are typically the ones who answer questions and solve problems for the other wedding attendants on your big day.

You should give your gift to your groomsmen while you are asking them to be your groomsmen; the same is true for your best man. This also allows your groomsmen to show up to your wedding with matching presents!

Should I get a gift for my father?

Yes, you should absolutely get a gift for your father. Unfortunately, fathers are often left out of the wedding-day gifting process despite the time, money, and effort they put into weddings. We all know the dad who says they don’t want anything, they’re lying. Even if they aren’t down the line, it will still mean a lot to them to have a sentimental item to remember your wedding by.

You should also get a gift for your father-in-law.

It's customary to give a present to your father-in-law to show appreciation for raising and taking care of your partner, but also for the same sentimental reasons why you should get a gift for your own father. Also, it makes your In-laws like you more, which is always a good thing for a married couple! The gift to your father or father-in-law is usually presented during rehearsal on the morning of the wedding.

Should I get a gift for my mother?

Yes, and your partner's mother too! You should get a sentimental gift for your mother to remember this monumental moment in your lives. Custom items, jewelry, and things that are going to last make for good gifts. For your mother-in-law, the gift should be sentimental and meaningful; sometimes, an experience like a nice restaurant or a day trip makes for a great present as well. These gifts should also be presented during the morning of the wedding, like the gifts for your fathers/fathers-in-law.

Should I get my bride/groom a gift? (Other than a ring)

It’s not expected, but couples are doing it anyway. It’s becoming an increasingly popular tradition to exchange sentimental items, love notes, experience-based gifts, or other presents on your wedding day. Sometimes this is a public affair being presented after the ceremony, but usually this is done privately.

Should I get a gift for my grandparents?

You should get a gift for your grandparents for your wedding. Your wedding is of incredible importance to your grandparents, and they will be ecstatic to have an item to remind them of this moment in your partner’s and your life. Similarly to your parents, give your grandparents their presents in the morning before your wedding.

Wedding Party Favors

You should also plan into your budget getting a collection of small, presentable party favors for every guest at your wedding. These don’t need to be personalized or special; they should be something that everyone at your wedding can enjoy. These aren’t 100% necessary, and not every wedding needs them, but they do elevate the experience for your guests.

Who is it not necessary to get a present for?

You typically don’t need to worry about giving a gift to your aunts, uncles, siblings, or cousins. Though of course, nothing is stopping you from giving them a gift either. Getting gifts for your new grandma or grandpa-in-law is not usually done either. Though if there is someone who you feel was instrumental in the success of the wedding or is very important to you and your partner's relationship, you should consider getting them a sentimental token. You also don’t need to get gifts for other friends and family members outside of your groomsmen.

What’s the right type of gift to give my wedding party?

For all of the gifts you give, they should be custom and personalized to the individual. You want something that feels special and not easy to find or remake. The gifts should be high-quality and meant to last. You also want your gifts to be presentable and beautiful. Gag gifts are common for a wedding and do make for good times, but we strongly recommend giving a gag gift alongside a “real” present so that the person still has a strong emotional item to hold onto after your wedding.

Luckily, at Stag Pack, we specialize in these exact gifts! Groomsmen Gifts, Raffle Packs, Gift Boxes, and other guy-themed items! All of our gifts are beautiful and customizable for the individual receiving them. They’re also designed to be presented beautifully in our groomsmen gift box. Even if you are getting a gift for your father or grandparent, our gifts make for great options, because of their quality and presentability. These are presents that any guy would love to receive.

You may want to look elsewhere for women's gifts. Though if you think one of our gifts would be a great match, you can absolutely still give it!
