Spring Wedding? Here are 4 Things Groomsmen Need to Be Ready for

When we started this company, we were just like you guys, right in the throes of wedding and stag planning, with nowhere to turn. Thats’ why we’re here!

Today on the blog, we wanna talk spring weddings, and a few things you need to be mindful of as a responsible party in this wedding party. Let’s break down a few things…

Are You Allergic?

This is a basic formality, but if you are a seasonal sneezimal, blasting boastful, guttural sneezes, then you need to remember your allergy meds on the day of the ceremony. This goes for grooms, groomsmen, and anyone going. But seriously, remember this as there will be a lot of bullets flying on the day of, so if you know the groom sneezes in the spring, make sure he's got his hanky and nasal drops or whatever. It may seem trivial, but if someone is allergic to bees, be sure they have their handy-dandy EpiPen on hand, especially if the wedding is away from home.

Stay Ready for Rain or Shine

One of the biggest reasons people DON’T get married in the spring is that they’re afraid of the seasonal fluctuation of the weather. Where we’re from in Buffalo, early spring can still be a bit frigid, but late spring can feature some amazingly warm and fresh weather. If the wedding is outside, you should consider being over-prepared as a groomsman, groom, or member of the wedding party.

Think about packing for a Boy Scout trip, but with chicks and grandmas. You need to maintain your visual appeal so as not eternally be known as “the guy who ruined the photos,” despite the weather. So think about things like extra shoes, socks, pants, stain remover, and dry towels. Etc. We need to keep things dry for the show, and we all need to be tight! Rain game possible!

Some Spring Wedding Attire Thoughts

The bride and groom will dictate the outfits for the day, obviously, but it’s important to plan how you dress for the day. Depending on the itinerary for the day, you may need a few changes of clothes for pregaming and getting ready with the boys. You may just be driving right to the ceremony in your outfit. Planning is the key here. Weather, conditions, and timing.

As far as what the groom should choose for himself and his troop of groomsmen, it sorta depends on the time of the wedding. If you’re doing something midday or in the afternoon, you’ll probably want to go with something a bit more casual. If you’re doing something outdoors or in the country, you may want to consider going jacketless for the groomsmen. It’s all about what your theme is.

If you’re doing an outdoor wedding at night, this could still feel more formal and traditional with dark tones. Heck, you could just go Hawaiian shirts and sandals, but be clear in your invites what you want people to do, and they will follow. The more everyone is on the same page, the closer the party feels.

Stag Plans - Beware the Heavy Holiday Season

Lastly, if you are planning, you are still probably ahead of planning your stag and/or bachelor party. We highly recommend having what we call a “Stag” party, which can help you bring in income to help cover costs of the wedding, like the DJ, photographer, Tux, etc. The thing to keep in mind is that the spring is a BUSY time. You have Mother's Day and Memorial Day in May. You have Easer stuff in April. You have Father’s Day in June. So be sure to get your boys' night of stagraiser planned FAR in advance so you have enough time to make it worth it.

Hopefully, this helps a groom, bride, or groomsmen to feel more comfortable about their spring wedding coming up! The springtime is this writer’s favorite time of year, featuring the greenest of greens and the freshest of air. If you are getting married this spring, we wish you the best of luck and a warm, memorable experience! Good luck!
